ATTICA. Athens. Circa 165-42 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 29 mm, 16.46 g, 12 h), Xenokles and Harmoxenos, magistrates, 90/89. Head of Athena Parthenos to right, wearing triple-crested Attic helmet adorned with Pegasos. Rev. A-ΘE / ΞΕ-ΝΟ/ΚΛΗΣ / APMO/ΞΕ/NOΣ Owl standing facing on Amphora; to right, helmeted Roma seated left, holding spear in her right hand and parazonium in her left; on amphora, Γ; in exergue, ΔΑ. Thompson 1113a (this coin). Rare and beautifully toned. Flan fault on the obverse, otherwise, very fine.

From an old Swiss collection, formed in the 1970s, privately purchased from Münzen & Medaillen (with original ticket) and from the collection of Dr. Petsalis, Athens.
